Sterling Silver Or Ha’Chaim Yeshiva Kiddush Cup On Saucer, Jerusalem, 1950’s.
This cup was specially made for the Yeshiva as a present to the graduating students.
Set on a domed hammered round base applied with grape clusters and vine, a fluted stem with a petticoat in the style of the Vilnius Jewish style which was typical to the candlesticks and the Kiddush cups made at that part of Eastern Europe.
The cup is applied with a medallion, inscribed in Hebrew – “Or Ha’chaim Jerusalem” above an engraved illustration of the Yeshiva and titled “Kos Ha’Chaim” (cup of life) with enhanced first letter “Hei” which is the lord name and inside a small Hamsa for luck.
This cup was made in limited edition and each cup is numbered, this cup is number 141 as marked inside the base on an oval plaque.
The saucer is applied with identical ornaments as the goblet’s base.
Very good condition, minor dent to the stem and to the base.
Marked – 925 for sterling silver and maker’s mark.
