Silver Handmade Purim Rattler Noise Maker Gregger, Europe, Ca 1860.
The rattler is engraved on one side with the Hebrew inscription “Arur Haman” (Haman The Damned) and the other side is engraved with the famous scene of Haman walking Mordechai on his horse.
The handle is set with a round moonstone.
The rattler (gregger / grager in Yiddish) is used in synagogue during the reading of the Book of Esther when the name of Haman is mentioned.
