Extremely Rare Antique Pair Of German Silver Sabbath Candlesticks, Ca 1840

Formed as rampant lions holding flowering sprays ending in leaf chased sconces with detachable nozzles.
Domed bases applied at the top with insects and animals, the bases are embossed with cartouches enclosing – Isaac’s binding, Jacob’s dream, the lighting of Sabbath candles, Samson wrestling the lion, King Solomon’s trial and a shepherd looking heavenwards.
