Russian 84 Silver Purse By Alexei Stepanov, Moscow, 1892
Of rounded rectangular form with chased basket weave decoration.
Engraved with a monogram (A.U.K) on one side and an inscription (Cyrillic) to the other side.
The gilt (gold washed) interior is lined with red felt dividing it to three compartments.
Connected with a carrying chain.It is most probable this item was originally made as a cigarette case and the interior was later lined and converted into a purse.
Marked with Russian silver marks (84 standard) maker’s mark for Alexei Stepanov, assayer’s mark for Lev Oleks.
