Of rectangular form with reeded sides, the hinged lid is made with raised floral and foliate border, engine turned ornaments and centered with a monogrammed cartouche.
Engine turned ornaments to the reverse (partly worn).
The gilt (gold washed) interior is made with a hinged grille pierced and engraved with floral and foliate ornaments.
Fully hallmarked for Birmingham, England, dated 1837, maker’s mark “J.S”.
